Issuing certificates

Activation checks

Hold new pieces as Not activated until your own checklist is ticked, so nothing verifies as genuine before it has been inspected.

Some pieces need a human check before their certificate should count: the item inspected, the identity card matched, the printed certificate compared with the piece. Activation checks hold every new certificate as Not activated until you have ticked your own checklist for it.

Where to find it

Apps → Authentica → Settings → Activation checks.

How to set it up

  1. Turn it on

Tick Hold new pieces until their checks are complete.
  2. Write your checks

Under Checks, one per line, write up to 12 checks. Leave it blank to use the standard list: Item inspected, Identity card matches this piece, Printed certificate matches this piece, and QR code scanned and opens this certificate.
  3. Save

Every certificate issued from now on starts as Not activated. Certificates you issued earlier are not affected.

While a piece is not activated

  • Its public verification page says the certificate is not active yet, with a watermark across it and no valid status.
  • It cannot be assigned to an order.
  • The buyer email is held back, so a buyer never receives a certificate that has not been checked.

Activate a piece

  1. Open the certificate

    In Certificates, open the piece.
  2. Tick every check

The checklist appears on the certificate's page. Every check must be ticked.
  3. Activate piece

Choose Activate piece. The time and the checks are recorded in the certificate's history, and any buyer email that was waiting is sent then.
