Troubleshooting

Start here when something is not behaving the way you expect. Each article below covers one symptom, with the checks in the order that resolves the most cases first.

• A customer did not receive points for their orderFive things stop an award, and the most common by far is that the buyer checked out as a guest, so the order had no customer on it.
• A customer earned fewer points than expectedPoints are earned on the subtotal after discounts and before tax and shipping, so discounts reduce earnings and postage never earns.
• The rewards widget is not appearing on the storefrontThe widget shows for signed-out visitors too, so a blank page is almost always the app embed being off or enabled on a different theme.
• A reward code is not applying at checkoutRewards become Shopify discount codes, so Shopify's own Combines with setting decides whether they can be used during a sale.
• A customer is in the wrong tier, or tiers are not appearing at allTiers need the Pro plan and the tiers toggle, and they use lifetime points, so redeeming rewards never demotes anyone.
• A customer's balance went negative after a refundRefunds reverse earned points but stop at zero. A balance below zero comes from a manual points removal.
• Birthday rewards or referrals are not runningBoth need the Growth plan or higher, and the checkout extension needs Pro plus Shopify Plus.
• Still stuckWhat to send us so we can read the program's own transaction log for that customer and answer in one reply.
