Getting started
- What is Authentica?Issue a branded, numbered Certificate of Authenticity with a QR code anyone can verify. No NFT, no crypto.
- Installing AuthenticaInstall the app, design your certificate, and issue a sample before any customer sees one.
- Designing your certificateDrag and drop your logo, colours and custom fields onto a certificate that looks like your brand.
Issuing certificates
- Auto-issue on ordersCreate a certificate for every paid order, for all products or only the ones you choose.
- Numbered editions and serialsNumber certificates as editions for limited runs, printed and shown on the verification page.
- Back-catalogue issuanceIssue certificates against orders placed before you installed the app.
- Revoke on refundInvalidate a certificate when an order is refunded, so a returned item cannot be resold as certified.
Verification and trust
- QR verificationA public page anyone can check, with no account needed, years after the sale.
- Ownership transfer and provenanceTransfer a certificate on resale so the item carries its full ownership chain.
- Cryptographic signingEach certificate is signed, so a forged or altered certificate fails verification.
Troubleshooting
Start here when something is not behaving the way you expect. Each article below covers one symptom, with the checks in the order that resolves the most cases first.
- No certificate was issued for an orderIssuance stops for one of six reasons. The most common after a settings change is that your trigger is fulfilment, not payment.
- Only some items on an order got certificatesCertificates are issued per physical unit. A partial order is nearly always the opt-in tag filter skipping untagged products.
- Custom fields on the certificate are emptyFields fill from product metafields and fail open, so a missing metafield leaves the field blank instead of blocking the certificate.
- A certificate shows as revoked and the customer is asking whyStatus is derived from the order at render time, so a refunded or cancelled order revokes its certificate automatically.
- The verification badge is not showing on the storefrontThe badge is a theme app block, so it renders only where it was added and does not travel between themes.
- The verification page appears in the wrong languageThe public page picks a language from the visitor's browser unless you pin one, so it can be right for them and wrong for you.
- Back-catalogue issuance seems to have stalledBackfill runs in batches and honours the same tag filter and monthly allowance as live issuance, so it stops rather than exceeding it.
- Still stuckWhat to send us so we can read the issuance record for that order, including the reason it was skipped.
Fulfilment and channels
- QR labels and packing slipsPrint the QR label and packing slip so the certificate travels in the parcel with the item instead of only landing in an inbox.
- NFC and Shopify POSTap an NFC tag to open a certificate's verification page, and look up any certificate at the till from Shopify POS.
- Klaviyo and webhooksFire your own emails and automations when a certificate is issued or transferred.
- LanguagesThe eight languages the admin ships in, and the ten the public verification page renders in, so a buyer verifies in their own language.
