Installing Miko Subscribe & Save
Install the app, create your first offer, and add the subscribe widget to your product template.
Installation is three steps: install the app, create your first offer, and add the widget block to your product template. The free plan needs no credit card and ships the whole subscribe and save job, capped on active subscribers rather than on features.
Step-by-step
- Install the app from the Shopify App Store and approve the permissions in your Shopify admin. The app opens under Apps → Miko Subscribe & Save.
- Open Offers and create your first subscribe and save offer. See Creating a subscribe and save offer for what each field does.
- In your Shopify admin go to Online Store → Themes → Customize, open a product template, and add the Subscribe & Save app block where you want the delivery options to appear, usually just above the add-to-cart button. Save the theme.
- Open that product on your storefront. You should now see a one-time option and a subscribe option with a delivery frequency menu.
The optional cart labels block
A second theme block, Subscription cart labels, adds subscription wording to cart and drawer line items on themes that do not show the selling plan name by default. It targets the page body rather than a section, so you add it once from the theme editor and it applies everywhere the cart renders.
What permissions the app asks for, and why
| Permission | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Read and write products | Attach and manage subscribe and save offers, which are selling plan groups on your products. |
| Read and write your subscription contracts | Read the live subscriptions, and apply skip, pause, swap, reschedule and cancel. |
| Read and write customers | Show the subscriber on their subscription, and send the secure Shopify link a buyer uses to update a failing card. |
| Read customer payment methods | Tell whether the card behind a subscription is the reason a charge failed, so the right recovery email goes out. |
| Read themes and files | Detect where the Subscribe & Save block sits, and resolve your theme logo so the customer portal matches your storefront. |
| Read orders | Show real per-delivery status in the portal timeline: placed, processing, fulfilled. |
The app also requires Shopify's one-time subscription APIs access grant, which Shopify issues to the app rather than to your store. There is nothing for you to approve separately.
