Publishing your answers

Shopify Knowledge Base sync

How your published answers reach the AI shopping agents that read Shopify's Knowledge Base.

Shopify's own Knowledge Base stores a store's FAQs as a standard record type that Shopify's AI shopping agents read directly. When Knowledge Base sync is on, every answer you publish is written there too, in the same format Shopify's own Knowledge Base app would use.

How it stays safe

  • Every pair the app writes carries its own identifier, built from the answer's stable key and language, so re-syncing updates the same record instead of creating a duplicate.
  • The app never changes or deletes a Knowledge Base answer it did not create. If you or another app already added FAQs to Shopify's Knowledge Base, those are read in and shown to you, never edited or removed by this app.
  • Only published answers sync. A draft or a Needs-your-answer item never reaches the Knowledge Base.

Setup

The first time you publish, the app checks that Shopify's Knowledge Base record type is enabled on your store and enables it if it is not. You do not need to install Shopify's own Knowledge Base app first.

Sync status

StatusWhat it means
ReadyThe Knowledge Base is set up and writable. Publishing syncs normally.
Needs setupThe Knowledge Base record type is not enabled yet. See Knowledge Base sync shows an error.
UnavailableThe app could not confirm access. See Knowledge Base sync shows an error.

Translations sync too

Every language your store publishes an answer in gets its own Knowledge Base record, so a shopper asking in German gets a German answer, not a translated English one pulled apart at query time.

Next step
