Getting started

Installing Miko AI Help Center & FAQ

Install the app, let the first scan run, and add the help button or product FAQ block to your theme.

Installation needs no setup form: the app reads your store the moment it installs and writes your first answers on its own. What is left is reviewing those answers and deciding where shoppers see them.

Before you start

  • You need to be the store owner or a staff member who can install apps and edit themes.
  • Your theme needs to support app blocks, which every Online Store 2.0 theme does.

What permissions the app asks for, and why

PermissionWhat it is for
Read and write productsRead product facts, and write only the app's own product metafield that holds a product's FAQ answers.
Read and write contentRead any FAQ page you already have, and create the help centre page the app publishes to.
Read legal policiesYour refund, shipping, privacy, terms and contact policies.
Read shippingDelivery profiles, zones, rates and free-shipping thresholds.
Read localesWhich languages your storefront publishes.
Read marketsThe currencies and markets you sell in.
Read and write translationsTranslate the help centre into every language your store publishes.
Read and write metaobjects and metaobject definitionsWrite your answers into Shopify's Knowledge Base (the standard shopify--qa-pair type).
Read locationsLocal pickup locations, for "can I collect my order?" answers.
Read and write online store navigationThe one-click "add the help centre to my menu" action, which only ever appends one link.

There is no scope for orders or customers here: the app does not request them, and does not read shopper personal data.

Install the app

Step-by-step

  1. Install and approve

Install the app from the Shopify App Store and approve the permissions in your Shopify admin. The app opens under Apps → Miko AI Help Center & FAQ.
  2. Let the first scan run

The app reads your store and writes your first answers automatically. There is nothing to configure to start this.
  3. Review your first answers

Open Answers. See Your first run for what to do with them.
  4. Add a block to your theme

In Online Store → Themes → Customize, add the Help button block (anywhere on the page) or the Product FAQ block (on a product, collection, page, home or cart template) where you want shoppers to see answers.
