VIP tiers reward your best customers with better earning rates, tier-only rewards, and status recognition. As customers earn more points, they automatically move up through your tiers.
Where to find it
Switch tiers on in Program Setup → VIP Tiers → Enable VIP tier system, then build them on the VIP Tiers page of the Miko app.
How to set it up
Turn tiers on
In Program Setup, switch on Enable VIP tier system and set the Tier maintenance period (months).
Create your tiers
Open VIP Tiers. Choose Create Default Tiers for Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum, or Add Custom Tier to build your own.
Set each tier
Name each tier, set the Minimum Lifetime Points threshold, and configure the Points Multiplier and tier colour.
Lock rewards to a tier (optional)
On Rewards, set a Tier requirement on any reward that only higher tiers should redeem.
Options
Creating your tier structure
A common starting structure (the app’s default tiers):
| Tier | Requirement | Earn Multiplier | Perks Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bronze | 0+ points | 1× (base rate) | Standard rewards |
| Silver | 500+ points | 1.25× | Free shipping rewards |
| Gold | 1,500+ points | 1.5× | Tier-only rewards |
| Platinum | 5,000+ points | 2× | Your best rewards |
Tier qualification methods
Customers qualify into tiers on one measure:
- Total points earned (lifetime, including redeemed points)
A member sits in the highest tier whose threshold their lifetime points have reached. Spending points never reduces lifetime points, so redeeming a reward never moves anyone down. Set up tiers under Miko App → VIP Tiers → Add Custom Tier. Name each tier, set the threshold, and configure the earn multiplier.
Tier progression is automatic
When a customer’s lifetime points cross a tier threshold, they’re upgraded automatically. They receive a notification if you’ve set up tier upgrade emails with the Loyalty tier changed trigger in Shopify Flow. No manual action needed from you or your team.
Example
With the default tiers, a customer who has earned 1,600 lifetime points is in Gold and earns 1.5× points on every order. Buying $100 at 1 point per $1 earns them 150 points instead of 100.
