Customers can redeem their points for discount rewards in two ways, depending on your Shopify and Miko plans. Every redemption becomes a single-use Shopify discount code.
Where to find it
Create rewards on the Rewards page of the Miko app. The value of a point is set in Program Setup → Redemption Rules.
How to set it up
Add a reward
Open Rewards and choose Add Reward. Give it a Reward Name customers will recognise.
Choose the type and value
Pick a Reward Type (percentage, fixed amount off or free shipping) and enter the discount value.
Set the cost
Enter the Points Cost and, if you want one, a Minimum Order ($) for the code.
Save
Save the reward. It appears in the widget straight away, and customers can redeem it once their balance covers the cost.
Options
Via the rewards widget (all plans)
Customers click the widget on your storefront, see their balance, and redeem points for a discount code. The code is generated instantly and they can apply it at checkout. Codes start with LOYALTY-, work once, and expire 30 days after they are issued.
Directly inside checkout (Shopify Plus, Pro plan)
On Shopify Plus with a Pro plan, a native checkout panel shows the customer their available points and lets them redeem inside the Shopify checkout, no widget, no trip back to the store. The panel generates the code and the customer enters it in the discount field on the same page.
Reward types you can offer
- Percentage discount - e.g. redeem 500 points for 5% off your order
- Fixed amount discount - e.g. redeem 1,000 points for $10 off
- Free shipping - redeem points to unlock free shipping on an order
On the Pro plan you can also set a Tier requirement, so a reward can only be redeemed by members at that VIP tier or higher. Other members see it with an “Unlocks at” hint.
Example
A simple ladder: 500 points for 5% off, 1,000 points for $10 off, and 1,500 points for free shipping. Customers who reach 500 points have a reason to buy again, and the bigger rewards give them a reason to keep saving.
