Before you start
- You need permission to install apps and edit themes on the Shopify store.
- Points attach to a customer account, so make sure customers can sign in (Settings → Customer accounts). An order placed as a guest earns nothing.
- The Free plan needs no card. Paid plans start with a 14-day free trial.
Install the app
Step 1, Install from the Shopify App Store
Install Miko Loyalty & Rewards from the Shopify App Store ↗. The app sets up your loyalty program automatically with default settings the first time you open it.
Step 2, Enable the Rewards Widget
The widget is the small panel that appears on your storefront where customers check their points balance and redeem rewards. Enable it once:
- Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize
- Click App Embeds in the left sidebar
- Toggle on Loyalty Points Badge, the Miko Loyalty widget embed
- Click Save
Step 3, Configure your program
In the Miko app, open Program Setup and set up:
- How many points customers earn per dollar spent (Points per $1 spent)
- What a point is worth when redeemed (Points needed per $1 off, e.g. 100 points = $1 off)
- Any bonus earning events (referrals and birthdays in Program Setup, reviews and follows under Earn Rules)
Then open Rewards and add at least one reward, so customers have something to aim at.
Check it is working
- Open your storefront in a private window. The widget launcher appears in the bottom corner, with a join prompt for signed-out visitors.
- Sign in as a test customer and open the widget. The balance shows your welcome points.
- In the app, open Customers. The test customer is listed as a member, with the welcome bonus in their history.
