Birthday rewards or referrals are not running

Both are plan-gated rather than broken. Birthday rewards and the referral programme require the Growth plan or higher; on Free or Starter they are inactive regardless of how they are configured. The checkout extension is Pro-only and additionally requires Shopify Plus, since Shopify only allows checkout extensions on Plus stores.
