Troubleshooting
A customer earned fewer points than expected
Points are earned on the subtotal after discounts and before tax and shipping, so discounts reduce earnings and postage never earns.
Points are calculated on the order subtotal after discounts, before tax and shipping. Three consequences surprise people:
- Discounts reduce earnings. A customer who pays $80 on a $100 order earns on $80. This includes automatic and app-applied discounts, so a wholesale buyer priced by Miko B2B Wholesale Pricing earns on the wholesale price, not the retail one.
- Shipping and tax never earn. Postage is excluded deliberately, so a small order with expensive shipping earns less than its total suggests.
- Order edits are respected. The calculation uses the order's current subtotal, so an order edited after payment earns on its final value rather than its original one.
For international orders the amount is read in your store's base currency, not the currency the buyer paid in, so a converted order is not double-counted.
