Getting started
Setting up your first rental product
Turn an existing Shopify product into a rentable one by enabling rental mode on it, with no separate duplicate product to maintain.
Any existing Shopify product can be turned into a rentable item in a few steps. You do not need to create a separate product , you enable rental mode on an existing one.
- In the Miko Product Rentals dashboard, go to Products.
- Click the product you want to make rentable. If it does not appear, use the search or browse your full product list.
- Toggle Rental Mode on.
- Set the rental pricing (see the Rental Pricing section below for details on daily, weekly, and monthly rates).
- Set the unit count , how many physical units of this item you own and can rent out simultaneously.
- Optionally set a deposit amount (flat dollar amount collected at checkout alongside the rental fee).
- Click Save.
Once saved, the product is rental-enabled. Customers will not see the date picker until you also add the Theme App Extension block to your product page template , see the next section.
Note: Enabling Rental Mode on a product does not affect customers who are buying the product outright. The date picker only appears when you add the Miko Rentals Date Picker block to your theme. If you sell a product both for outright purchase and for rental, use a separate product for each.
