Miko Restock Guide
Everything you need to forecast demand, know what to reorder and when, create and receive purchase orders, count stock, and rescue your inventory data on your Shopify store.
1. Overview
Miko Restock is an inventory intelligence layer that sits on top of Shopify's native inventory. It watches how fast every product sells, builds a Buy Sheet that tells you exactly what to reorder, how much, and when, and turns those decisions into purchase orders in a click. It also counts stock, flags cash frozen in stock that is not selling, and shows the dates your shelves will run empty. No theme changes. It reads your store's own data and works on every Shopify plan.
How Miko Restock works
Install → Miko imports your catalogue and up to a year of order history → The Buy Sheet ranks what to reorder from sales pace and supplier lead times → You create purchase orders (split per supplier) → Receive deliveries with a preview before anything changes → Count stock and rescue old data along the way.

2. Installation & First Sync
Miko Restock installs from the Shopify App Store. The Free plan needs no credit card.
Step-by-step
- Go to apps.shopify.com/miko-restock and click Install.
- You will be redirected to your Shopify admin to approve the app's permissions. Review the scopes and click Install.
- The app opens inside your Shopify admin under Apps → Miko Restock. This is your home for the Buy Sheet, purchase orders, and settings.
3. The Buy Sheet
The Buy Sheet is the heart of Miko Restock. It lists every product with its sales pace, how many days of cover you have left, and a recommended order quantity, so you can see what to reorder at a glance.
What each column tells you
- On hand / Incoming , current available stock across your locations, and units already on the way from open purchase orders.
- Sold 30 / 90 / 365 , units sold over the last 30, 90, and 365 days, so both fast movers and slow seasonal lines are visible.
- Days of cover , how long current stock will last at the recent sales pace. Products fall to Low when cover drops under your warning threshold, and Out at zero.
- Recommended order , how many units to buy so you land back at your cover target, taking incoming stock and the supplier's lead time into account.
Turning the Buy Sheet into purchase orders
Tick the products you want to reorder and press Create purchase orders. If the products you selected belong to different suppliers, Miko automatically splits them into one draft purchase order per supplier, each with the recommended quantities filled in. You can also assign a supplier to any product inline, right from the Buy Sheet.
4. Purchase Orders
A purchase order records what you are buying from a supplier, and receiving it updates your Shopify stock. Miko never changes stock without showing you exactly what will happen first.
The lifecycle
- Draft , create a PO from the Buy Sheet or from scratch, add lines, quantities, and unit costs.
- Mark as ordered , once you have sent it to your supplier, mark it ordered. Its units now count as Incoming on the Buy Sheet.
- Receive delivery , when stock arrives, receive it in full or in part. A preview shows the exact stock change per line and the new weighted-average cost before anything is written to Shopify. Confirm to apply.
Sending a PO to your supplier
Every plan can download a PO as a CSV and open a pre-filled email to the supplier from your own mail app. On Pro, Miko can email a branded purchase order to the supplier directly, with the CSV attached.
5. Stocktakes
A stocktake is a physical count that reconciles what is on your shelves with what Shopify thinks you have. Miko is built to make counting fast and safe, whether you are at the till or in a warehouse.
Two ways to count
- Barcode scanner or on-screen: start a count and scan items, or type counts directly. Each scan finds the matching line instantly.
- Export and import a sheet: export the count sheet as a CSV, hand it to your warehouse team to fill in offline, then import the completed sheet back into Miko. It matches rows by variant and SKU and skips blanks.
Review before you apply
Before any stock is changed, Miko shows a variance review , the difference between the expected and counted quantity for every line. You approve the count, and only then is Shopify inventory updated. If stock moved after you counted, Miko flags it rather than overwriting silently.
6. Suppliers
Adding your suppliers is what makes the Buy Sheet and purchase orders truly automatic. Each supplier has a lead time, terms, and the costs you have recorded for the products they provide.
What suppliers unlock
- Lead times feed the forecast , a supplier's lead time is built into the reorder date and recommended quantity, so you order early enough to avoid a stockout.
- One order, split per supplier , when a Buy Sheet selection spans several suppliers, Miko creates one purchase order per supplier automatically.
- Lowest cost wins , when two suppliers carry the same product, Miko picks the one with the lower recorded cost when it builds the order.
Assign products to suppliers from the Suppliers page or inline on the Buy Sheet. Received purchase orders and Rescue Import also link products to suppliers as they go.
7. Dead Money Finder
The Dead Money Finder shows the cash tied up in stock that is not selling, so you can discount, bundle, or stop reordering it before it drains more of your budget.
- Dead , products with stock on hand and no sale in the last year.
- Slow , products with stock on hand and no sale in the last 90 days.
Each product shows the frozen value , units on hand multiplied by unit cost , and the report is sorted so the biggest offenders are at the top. Every row links straight to the product in your Shopify admin.
8. Stockout Calendar
The Stockout Calendar projects the date each product is due to run out at its current sales pace, grouped so you can see what needs a purchase order this week versus later. It is a read-only planning view , nothing is changed , and it pairs naturally with the Buy Sheet: see the date on the calendar, then reorder from the Buy Sheet.
9. Cost Guard Pro
Cost Guard watches the unit costs on your received purchase orders over time and flags suppliers whose prices are creeping up , the quiet margin erosion that is easy to miss when you are only looking at one order at a time. It compares the first and most recent recorded cost per product and surfaces the biggest increases, so you can renegotiate or switch suppliers with the numbers in hand.
10. Reorder Autopilot Pro
Reorder Autopilot drafts your purchase orders for you. On the day and time you choose, it takes everything the Buy Sheet says needs restocking, groups it by supplier, and leaves a draft purchase order waiting for your one-click approval. It emails you a summary with the drafts attached as a spreadsheet.
11. Rescue Import
Switching from another inventory tool, or from Stocky? Rescue Import brings your history across so you do not start from zero. Upload your CSV exports and Miko rebuilds your purchase order history and the supplier records that most tools cannot export.
- Go to Rescue Import and upload one or more CSV files (for example, a purchase-order export).
- Miko parses the files, recreates your historical purchase orders, and rebuilds suppliers from the data, flagging any that need a quick review.
- Imported purchase orders are numbered distinctly so they never clash with the new ones you create.
12. Alerts & Weekly Digest
Miko keeps you informed without you having to open the app, and every email carries the full detail as an attached spreadsheet so a large catalogue is never cut off.
- Low-stock alerts , an email when products are out or about to run out, with a short preview and the full list attached as an Excel file. The same product is never alerted twice in the same week.
- Weekly stock-health digest , a summary of what is out, low, and overstocked, plus the top of your Buy Sheet, with the full report attached.
Choose when you hear from Miko
In Settings → Alerts you pick the day and time the weekly digest arrives, in your store's own timezone, and the email address alerts go to. Reorder Autopilot has its own day and time. Turn any of it on or off whenever you like.
13. Ask in Sidekick
Miko Restock answers inside Shopify Sidekick, the assistant built into your admin. Ask questions like "what should I reorder?", "what is low on stock?", or "how many days of cover does this product have?" and Sidekick responds using your live Miko Restock data , stock health, reorder suggestions, open purchase orders, supplier lead times, and recent counts. It is read-only and available on every plan.

15. FAQ
Does Miko Restock change my Shopify inventory automatically?
Only when you tell it to, and only after a preview. Stock is written to Shopify when you receive a purchase order or apply a stocktake, and both show you the exact change before anything happens. The reports (Buy Sheet, Dead Money, Stockout Calendar) never change stock.
Do I need order history for the forecasting to work?
It is most accurate on stores with some sales history, and Miko imports up to a year of it on install. A brand-new store builds up recommendations as orders come in.
Does it work with multiple locations?
Yes. Miko reads inventory across all of your active locations on every plan, so the Buy Sheet reflects your true total stock. Purchase orders and stocktakes let you choose the location to receive into or count.
How is this different from Shopify's built-in purchase orders?
Shopify can record a purchase order. Miko Restock tells you what to put on it, how much, and when , from demand forecasting and supplier lead times , then splits it per supplier, picks the lowest cost, previews every change on receiving, and adds the Dead Money, Stockout, Cost Guard, and Autopilot intelligence on top.
Is my data safe?
Yes. Miko reads only order dates and line-item quantities , never customer names, emails, or addresses. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and is deleted when you uninstall the app. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail.
Where do I find the app?
From your Shopify admin, go to Apps → Miko Restock. The dashboard is the default view when you open the app.
